How to Make Your Own Green Tea Face Mist (with Flaxseed Powder)

Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated. Some of the most effective rituals begin with ingredients you already have in your kitchen or tea cabinet. One of my favorite ways to care for my skin — especially in the warmer months — is with a homemade green tea face mist.

This is a simple, refreshing blend you can make at home using just a few ingredients. It hydrates, calms, and balances the skin — no fillers, no preservatives, just clean nourishment.

We love using our Green Tea for this mist.

Green tea is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a perfect choice for calming irritated or inflamed skin. It helps neutralize free radicals, reduce excess oil, and give the skin a more even, nourished look over time.

Flaxseed powder adds a light, natural humectant effect — meaning it helps your skin hold onto moisture. Just a small amount gives your mist a deeper layer of hydration than water alone, without feeling sticky or heavy.

It’s not just a quick spritz to cool down — it’s designed to actively support your skin barrier, reduce inflammation, and promote balance. Think of it as a more treatment-focused mist, especially great for oily, acne-prone, or sensitive skin types that need a bit of extra support.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 tsp of Phases of U’s Green Tea

  • ⅛ tsp flaxseed powder

  • ½ to 1 cup distilled/filtered water

How to Make It:

  1. Steep your tea
Brew your green tea in hot (not boiling) water for about 5–10 minutes. Let it cool completely before moving to the next step.

  2. Add flaxseed powder
Once your tea is cool, stir in a small pinch of flaxseed powder. This helps give the mist a slight moisturizing effect while staying light enough to spray.

  3. Strain if needed
If there’s any settling or cloudiness, strain the mixture through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer to keep your mist smooth.

  4. Bottle & store
Pour into a clean spray bottle and store it in the fridge. Since this mist is preservative-free, it’s best used within 5–7 days for maximum freshness.

How to Use:

  • After cleansing, as a toner

  • Before moisturizing, to prep the skin

  • Throughout the day for a cooling, refreshing glow

  • On your pillow or neck before bed to relax your senses

This is a perfect low-effort, high-reward ritual to add into your wellness routine.

As always, listen to your skin — and make it your own.

With love,
Phases of U
